Meet Jacqueline Lee, the creator of Gaia Glow
Jacqueline’s own health and self-love journey is what inspired her to create Gaia Glow in order to support others on their own journey. After being upstate at college for three years, Jacqueline returned home to Long Island feeling depressed, anxious and completely broken. The toxic environment and people she was surrounded by at school left her feeling helpless, and only intensified her pre-existing insecurities which ultimately led to destructive behavior and an eating disorder that resulted in Amenorrhea (complete loss of her period). Jacqueline returned home a broken shell feeling depressed, riddled with anxiety and alone. She was sick, not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually.
Healing through Yoga
With weeks going by and nothing else seeming to make a difference, Jacqueline’s mom insisted she join her at a yoga class. While at first resistant, Jacqueline eventually agreed and went with her mom to a gentle yoga class at Om Tara Yoga in Massapequa. She entered the room barely even able to make eye contact with the teacher or the other students because of how low her self-worth was. However, at the end of class in the final resting pose (Sivasana), something amazing happened. Tears began to stream down her face uncontrollably. She felt a physical release similar to how it feels when you have tightly clenched fists, and then open them up. She had been so tense in her body, tight and constricted for months, and then in this Sivasana, she felt her body begin to soften and release. She felt her heart gently begin to crack open and allow light to pass through. This was the beginning of her journey to self-love and healing.
Certifications and Trainings
After several months of attending classes consistently, the practice of yoga began to heal her from the inside out. Yoga inspired her to take better care of herself including her nutrition, which eventually led to the return of a regular menstrual cycle. She was so amazed by how impactful yoga, and more specifically the holistic connection of body, mind and spirit had been to her health, that she wanted to share this love and light in the hopes of helping others who may be struggling. In January 2015, Jacqueline graduated from her 200-hr yoga teacher training and began to teach full time across Long Island. She went on to pursue more certifications in Reiki energy healing and children’s yoga. In the spring of 2018, Jacqueline received an additional 85-hours of Prenatal yoga training through the Yoga Womb here on Long Island. This training was a game changer because it allowed Jacqueline to dive deep into the power of this divine feminine energy we all have within us. Being around such amazing feminine energy both in the training, and also in the prenatal yoga classes she went on to teach, inspired Jacqueline to dive deeper into the work of supporting women during their prenatal, birth and postpartum periods. She went on to take Postpartum Doula training through the Long Island Doula Association in July 2018, and a Birth Doula training through Traditional Doula and Midwifery Arts in January 2019, so that she could best support each woman with evidence based information.
Gaia Glow
It is Jacqueline’s mission to support her clients physically, emotionally and spiritually along their journey to motherhood. This time in a woman’s life is one of the most beautiful, powerful and transformational, and she deserves all of the support in the world to help her transition. This mission of honoring the divine feminine led to the birth of Gaia Glow; a safe and supportive space for women to come to for guidance wherever they may be along their journey from preconception all the way through to the sacred postpartum window after birth. When a woman is holistically healthy in body, mind and soul, she will truly glow from the inside out.
